DESCRIPTION
The St. Louis Car Museum & Sales is proud to present this magnificently hand crafted speedboat. Built from scratch with artisan hands, this one of a kind vessel was the dream of an aeronautical engineer. He used plan from a 50’s hobby magazine to build the toy model as a child and then enlarged the plans to build the 15-foot masterpiece you see here. Mahogany planked top and marine plywood sides and bottom. The entire boat was then coated in clear epoxy for durability and low maintenance. The sides and bottom are painted in a marine grade durable paint that will continue to look exceptional for years to come.
An eye catching boat both on the trailer and in the water, the “Rocket” lives up to its name as a wonderful performer. Powered by a 165hp Ford Marine 260 Interceptor engine the nimble little boat can accelerate with the best and corner with ease. The boat features a shaft drive with forward, neutral, and reverse selections in the transfer case. Top speed is claimed to be near 60mph! A feat that seems capable thanks to the stepped and ventilated hull, much like that seen on modern performance craft. The boat is equipped with the essential gauges such as Tachometer, Oil Pressure, Water Temperature, and Voltage Meter. Full navigate lights and engine bay ventilation blower, are also built into the boat. A tinted split windscreen made from lightweight and safe Plexiglas, adds a touch of class and function to the very stylish vessel. The included emergency paddle is also beautifully finished and bears the name “Rocker Booster”. The builder had a great sense of humor to go with his engineering and woodworking talents. The cockpit provides ample room for two full size adults and could even fit a third if you like each other. The polished copper exhaust pipes seen in the photos do run under your seat, but are water cooled and never reached more than 60 degrees on our test drive and photo shoot. A very comfortable ride for both captain and the first mate.
Resting on a custom built Prestige Trailer in matching blue paint and nicknamed the “Rocket Launcher”, the boat is ready to travel anywhere. This is an excellent opportunity to own a fun and exciting boat with a classic antique look. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have about the boat, or the worldwide shipping options available.
